I really enjoyed this assignment.  Before this class I had never even heard of and aggregator and now my computer and my husbands open up to my IGoogle page.  It is awesome to have everything come to you.  I have learned that the comments are a place that some act innapropriately on one CNN feed I was reading about toddlers and tantrums the adults were having verbal tantrums with each other.  Not so nice.  I noticed that some of the authors don't monitor their pages often and using the reader I could see quickly what changes were going on.   I think that I may be able to use an IGoogle page or some other mashup in the classroom.  We have many sites that we go to frequently and I think that we could set something up for the kids to check the weather and possibly some of the web cams that we watch as well as some of their favorites (Starfall and tvo kids).

I am feeling that I am being set up to fail my students by being required to cover content in a book rather than focus on the learning needs of my students.

Blog Post about Rss Reader

Kathy Schrock is an educator that is highly respected and usually active on the computer blogging, however she has not been to active lately.  I read some of her earlier posts. She uses Twitter frequently and apparently she Tweeted a whole speech from a conference and she got lots of negative feed back from people receiving the tweets all day she decided to create a separate account to let her followers that would like to see and then they can unsubscribe after the conference. 

 Interesting, just a blurb about the discrepancy between how some educators teach and what the students do personally.  It seems to me that our district has a long way to go. 

I listened to a podcast!  It was quite interesting.  They discussed GTD and the 43 folders way of organizing.  The open loop is a great way to describe those little interruptions that I get while trying to concentrate. 

Interesting discussion about computer lab vs. computers in the classroom.  The blog sided on computers in the classroom for ease of use and ability to troubleshoot if there is a problem with a program or website.  It also said that this conversation is already outdated with the event of Ipad and Iphones.

Ohhh, I found  a very cool app that I can use in the classroom.  I am excited!  You can record the children reading and download to Itunes.  Cool idea!

Screen Dump of Rss reader

 Iste site, joined and watched my first webinar.  It was about Ipads in the classroom.

I am writing about how I am keeping myself organized while I am taking this class.  The first thing I did was to write all of the sites user names and passwords on index cards.   I was having a difficult time keeping all the user names and passwords straight.  Things seem to be going better.  The next thing I did was to print off all of the assignments and labs and created a binder with the calendar in the front.  I feel that the course work is not as overwhelming for me now.  I also listened to a podcast about Gtd and it was interesting, I particularly liked the idea of the 43 folders 31 one for each day of the month and 12 for the various months that are placed behind.  I think this is an idea that I could use for school while doing long range lesson planning.  It may be a book I read later.

web vs. blog

The orignal web page was one sided the author could put information or news up and people could see it.  The viewer did not respond back the the author on the web page.  A web blog is interactive multiple people can write on the blog and viewers can respond to the author/authors.
